Commissions

I won't draw just anything. I draw complexity, by hand, obsessively, for as long as it takes.

A commission starts with a conversation about the place, the story, and why it matters. Not every subject is right. Some photos don't have it. I'll tell you straight away.

If you have something you think can't be drawn, that's exactly the kind of thing to bring.

How it works

Tell me about it. The building, the story, and why it matters. Photos help but are not essential. I often scout subjects in person.
I send a quote. Usually within a day or two. Timing depends on the subject and my current workload.
Sketch approval. You see the composition before I commit to heavy linework. This is the point where you can request changes or walk away.
Drawing begins. Once the sketch is approved, a 50% deposit secures the slot. Most pieces take 2 to 4 weeks.
Completion. I send photographs of the finished piece before arranging collection, delivery, or shipping.

Handover: I am always happy to meet and hand over work in person in Dublin 8 or Dublin city centre.

Common questions

Can you work from old photos?
Yes. Black and white, faded, grainy, all fine.

What if the subject is outside Dublin?
No problem. I can work from good reference photos when I cannot scout in person.

Do you frame?
Not as a standard service, but I am very happy to recommend excellent framing partners in Dublin 8, including Russell at Sumi Studio and the team at The Copper House Gallery.

How do I collect it?
Collection in Dublin 8 is easiest, but I can also arrange shipping.

What happens if I do not like the sketch?
We stop there. No deposit, no obligation. The sketch stage exists to make sure the piece feels right.

Can I ask about a print instead of an original?
Yes. Get in touch and mention the piece you have in mind.

Got a place in mind?

The first conversation is free, and there is no commitment until you approve the sketch.
