The Bull & Castle

This was a real challenge to draw because of the angles and the lettering.

The lamppost and the lettering are my favourite parts of the piece. Both were extremely difficult to draw.

The Bull and Castle, finished drawing

Finished drawing.

Reference

Getting the angles right.

The angles were the hard part from the start.

I set the reference up in the studio and worked out the structure before committing to the drawing.

Process

The structure and the lettering.

The drawing had to be built carefully from the main structure out.

The lettering took real concentration. If that was off, the whole piece was off.

Detail

The lamppost and the lettering.

The lamppost and the lettering are my favourite details in the whole drawing.

They were both extremely challenging, which is probably why I like them so much.
