The client was living above the pub at the time, which made the drawing feel even more tied to the place.
It is an old Dublin pub with real character, so getting the frontage right mattered from the start.
Commission · Dublin pub
This is an amazing pub, with an amazing history.
The client was living above the pub at the time, and I wanted the drawing to have that Dirty Auld Town feeling that sits at the heart of Dublin.

Process
The brickwork took time, and that is what gives the drawing most of its character.
I wanted the whole thing to feel like the real street, not just a clean frontage.
Early stage on the left, halfway through on the right.
Detail
I particularly like the Guinness for Strength poster in the big downstairs window.
It is one of my favourite details in the whole piece.
