The client sent a single photograph with good light, a clear view of the cottage, and the right balance between house and garden.
When the reference is that strong, there is no need to force a new composition.

Reference photograph supplied by the client.
Process
The building goes in first. Walls, windows, roof line, and the path all have to feel settled before the surface detail can do its work.
Then the ivy takes over. That was the slow part, as well as the satisfying part.
Early structure on the left, ivy beginning to fill in on the right.
Finish
The client provided a high quality frame, so I fitted the drawing before delivery.
Before framing, then the finished framed piece.
